Fifty years ago almost every Catholic woman and girl owned a chapel veil. Yet with their disappearance the Church lost a lovely symbol for womanhood. Elizabeth Black and Emily Sparks explain the theology, history, tradition and symbolism of the chapel veil and give today’s Catholic woman a reason to wear one once again.

The two essays contained in this booklet get to the very root of the meaning of the veil. This prayerful, in-depth explanation of the symbolism behind the chapel veil portrays the theology of the veil in such a clear yet breathtakingly beautiful way that it has the potential to renew our devotion for the Eucharist, our awe at the intimacy of the love of God, and our resolve to honor God in any way we can.

    Good start

This is a good start on why women should/do wear a chapel veil, but at only 20 pages, it's expensive. REPLY: Jeanine, thank you for your feedback. The price is set by the publisher, an independent printer of books which include many out-of-print titles.

    Wonderful company!

I love the booklet, and also, the cards I ordered. Funny, I wanted to order one package of each of the cards but it didn't allow me to do that. When my package arrived, there was, to my delight, one sample card of the other! Blessings to all involved in this great endeavor!

    So this is why!

I have felt a draw towards wearing a veil for several years now. No one in my family or my family's church wears veils and I even recall some negative comments by loved ones toward the subject. So it was with much hesitation that I decided to start veiling but I also wanted to be prepared to answer questions and respond to negative viewpoints. This book, as the authors suggest, is not a complete commentary on every aspect of veiling, but it does cover the authors findings in a factual way. They state there are more reasons to veil from psychological to emotional among other reasons, but this booklet talks just about a few historical points and theological reasons. I read this whole book in about 1/2 an hour. It's not too big a task for one sitting. :)
