The Chapel Veil: Symbol of the Spouse of Christ (Booklet)

Fifty years ago almost every Catholic woman and girl owned a chapel veil. Yet with their disappearance the Church lost a lovely symbol for womanhood. Elizabeth Black and Emily Sparks explain the theology, history, tradition and symbolism of the chapel veil and give today’s Catholic woman a reason to wear one once again.

The two essays contained in this booklet get to the very root of the meaning of the veil. This prayerful, in-depth explanation of the symbolism behind the chapel veil portrays the theology of the veil in such a clear yet breathtakingly beautiful way that it has the potential to renew our devotion for the Eucharist, our awe at the intimacy of the love of God, and our resolve to honor God in any way we can.

    The chapel veil

Interesting. It helped with my decision to wear a veil. 2 stories by 2 different women, but the stories were too similar. It would have been nice to hear a different view point, but it was well worth reading

Beautifully expressed! Such clarity! I never quite knew how to express to others what was in my heart. This booklet does what I was not able to do. I love it! I had tried to find it from many different sources, unsuccessfully. I hope you are able to keep it in stock, in case I need to order more copies!

OH MY GOSH!!! I WISH I had been given this book years ago! I have been wearing a veil to Mass for almost a year now, and I have read so many articles about veiling. But these two essays just hit the nail on the head with perfect explanations about men and women and our places in the Body of Christ. I can't wait to be able to share what I have learned from this little booklet! People ought to purchase this booklet when they purchase a veil. Hand them out to others as a source of information!

Putting words to what is in my heart

This little booklet is a wonderful gem! Such concise, yet richly written language that clearly offers a deeper awareness of the practice of wearing a chapel veil. There are so many excellent points given, one has a better understanding as well as a tool to draw from when others inquire. I plan to purchase several to distribute to my sisters and friends in the tradition of donning veils while in the Real Presence. It also elevates beautifully the sacramental nature of marriage. The writers integrate and weave these truths throughout their work. Thank you for offering this resource!!

Truly wonderful little booklet! I never knew all these wonderful, theological reasons for veiling. I will never be able to forget now, why I veil when I assist at Mass again. Truly enlightening. I encourage everyone to read this little gem of a book! You will look at veiling as something wonderful and beautiful to do for Our Lord. Thanks for offering this Lily. God bless.

    Lovely; Beautiful!

I read this book only this morning while spending my Holy Hours at our local Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration Chapel. I have to say that I have read many things over the years about women veiling but this one struck me as one of the most beautiful. I highly encourage everyone to purchase a copy of this booklet. Thank you Lily!
