Fifty years ago almost every Catholic woman and girl owned a chapel veil. Yet with their disappearance the Church lost a lovely symbol for womanhood. Elizabeth Black and Emily Sparks explain the theology, history, tradition and symbolism of the chapel veil and give today’s Catholic woman a reason to wear one once again.

The two essays contained in this booklet get to the very root of the meaning of the veil. This prayerful, in-depth explanation of the symbolism behind the chapel veil portrays the theology of the veil in such a clear yet breathtakingly beautiful way that it has the potential to renew our devotion for the Eucharist, our awe at the intimacy of the love of God, and our resolve to honor God in any way we can.

    The Chapel Veil

Posted by Stephanie Ortiz on 8th Mar 2021

This speaks to the human heart. This is the goal of every human soul ever created and will ever be created: to be the Bride of the Lamb. This is both for men and women, for women we have the pure gift to wear our wedding veil now on earth in the presence of the Lamb. Every time we go to mass we agree to the Lambs proposal of marriage and receive Him in the Eucharist. We can certainly meditate on this booklet the rest of our lives.

Very good! Chapel Veil Booklet explains the reason for wearing the veil. Easy to read and understand.

This is important information for women and young ladies to read and understand the "why" of wearing the veil during Mass. I would recommend this especially for those who are converting to the Catholic faith as a part of catechism teaching/classes.

I proudly wear my veil to honor our Dear Lord either in Adoration or at Holy Mass. I also wear it when I have lector duties in our church. May I be a good example to the other ladies as well who attend.

    Would recommend to anyone-Including men

This is very well written. It's brief. You can read it in about 30 minutes. It does a beautiful job of explaining the history, symbolism, and devotion of veiling. I would recommend this book to anyone, even those who prayerfully decide veiling isn't for them, or for men. It's a wonderful explanation for improving understanding and acceptance for those who do veil.
